Marco Parascandalo is a Maltese designer based in Birgu. He was born on the 15th March in 1987 to Tania and Ray Parascandalo, both from Birgu.
His mum used to own a boutique in Birgu and at the age of twelve, he already enjoyed decorating the store window and display. At this point, his creativity flourished and a few months later, he started sketching clothing. Eventually, he attended the Institute of Art and Design, MCAST, where he explored a lot of different areas, however his passion for tailoring and sewing flourished.
Today, he is the founder-creator of the label Parascandalo Marco also known as Skandlu.
In spring of 2010, he moved to London, Uk to pursue his interest in fashion further. Already holding a BTEC diploma in crafts and design, Marco has gone to style various profiles as a stylist, art direct photo shoots and work with London based designers, SORAPOL and VIELMA .
In February 2014, he reallocated back in Malta and in the following May he made his first Malta Fashion week presentation at the Casino Maltase in Valletta, of his Pre-Fall menswear collection. Here he also designed a line of t-shirts with popular slang terms such as Faqa’Sew, Kemm Inhobb, Faqa’ Oht and Skandlu.
On the 24th October 2014, he hosted the PARASCANDALO FASHION SHOW at the Auberge De France, under the patronage of the Local Council’s Mayor, Mr John Boxall .
This fashion show presented Marco’s menswear fall/pre-Christmas collection titled Seriously Black, an all-black collection inspired from the 80’s and 90’s goth scene. Here he also featured new slogans/popular sayings such as X’Gharukaza! Int bis-Serjeta’? and Ommi Ma!.
The Auberge offered an exciting and appropriate setting for this collection, inspired by the beautiful surroundings of the local city of Birgu and its quaint old but thriving vibe.
Some of the most popular persons from the local fashion and entertainment scene, together with bloggers from the local media attended the event.
